Question about Gold Items
Hi
Being a newbie in HM, I get a load of gold items that I have no idea how much they are worth and price checking all of them is time consuming and probably annoys experienced players... Could you all please give me some hints on how to know which items I should sell to players and which are merchant meat? Also are all blue/purple items merchant desert or are there some I should price check? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ^_^ |

You'll learn from experience. You're better off checking the Sell/Buy forums here to see what people are interested in.

Blues and purples go to the merchant always.
In general, golds with req 11 or higher go to the merchant too. Exceptions being rare skins/caster weapons. If it doesn't look cool and you're not sure, merch it imo. |

I know it will come with experience, I just wanted to know what properties I should look for. For instance, Max Damage, Requirements, Mods, etc.
Also I imagine with the mods, they should be perfect to be worth anything? Is it worthwhile salvaging perfect mods off a gold or should I rather sell the gold with the perfect mod? Thanks for the replies so far |

If they are rare skin, then just req9 is enough, or even 10. Just mod them perfect or not, as you like, and sell at good price.
If they are not rare skin, then should be: -req9 -perfect -usually inscribable If you got req8 or req7 gold, it is worth of looots of money. Req8 or Req7 rare skin is JACKPOT! 100k + ectoes + armbraces here i come! |

Req 8 Golds that are not perfect or inscribable are not worth much. Ussually 10k tops if they are a shield/foci with one mod - maybe a bit more if the weapon has a useable but none 15^50 inherent

Check prices of runes and insignias with the rune trader when you get armor pieces. A lot of the blue runes are worth money (because they don't require a Health sacrifice). On purples, the Major Vigor is the only rune I can think of that's really worth much, but make sure you check the insignias.
For gold skins, check for max damage and low req (predominantly 9 or 10 as previously posted, but for some skins higher reqs still have value) - then check the price guides or search the Ventari forum or auction site on guru to see what people are buying/selling for. Perfect mods and inscriptions are worth something if you have the time/inventory space to invest to find a buyer. If you do have a nice gold item to sell, don't waste money modding it - just sell it with whatever you found on it. In fact, if it has a valuable mod on it, you should consider removing it (with a perfect salvage kit) and selling it separately. Why? Because you may find a buyer that wants the skin but different mods. An ele looking for a caster sword isn't going to pay extra for the sundering mod, because he's planning on replacing it. Sundering is the same as nothing to that buyer, but you could make some more money selling the mod to another player who doesn't like the skin you have. |

There are two categories:
- Inscribable :Skin: The most important. The more rare the skin, the higher the price. :Base: Better if max. But some very rare skins may be paid even with non-perfect damage, armor or energy base stats. :Req: Depending on skin. The more rare the skin, the higher the possible req to get it sold quickly. Longsword (req 8..9) Elemental Sword req (8..13) :Upgrades: The hgher the better, but skin is more important in them. - Non inscribable :Skin: As all items in GW, skin is the most important. :Base: Max too. But if the skin is rare some people may buy them even if non max. :Req: 7..13 in this case, it do not only depends on skin, but in the fixed modifier. The better, the modifier, the less important the req. :Modifier: The ones most people seek are 15^50%HP and +5 energy. The rest are much less sld, but some peple still may want them. Yargh. Fixed modifier are annoying. :Upgrades: Again not much really important, they increase the price if they are goo ones, but the properties you can't change are more important. If they implement the infamous gossiped Xunali Market or they add upgrade traders or inscriptions worldwide. It would be much easier for you to gt prices. But until then, seen what others ask for the items they say it's the best way to know, by paying attention in forums and towns with players selling. |

You might also want to try selling things through Guru Auction. It's much easier than spamming WTB's in L.A. and Kamadan. Contrary to what some people have said here, some blues and purples are worth selling, but they sell for much less than the gold ones. It depends mostly upon whether or not the skin is desirable or rare, and they pretty much have to be inscribable. For example, I recently sold an inscribable blue Tall Shield (max, req9) for 750g and a purple Sage Blade (max, req-i-forget) for 2k. When you think about it from a buyers perspective, even though most people want gold (or green) weapons, blue and purple ones look the same, so as long as the stats are good, whose the wiser. I would suggest expert salvaging and holding onto any max mods. You will often enter Lions Arch or Kamadan and find someone looking for even the most comon mods.
I generally find that many people are willing to pay 500g to 2K for a max mod just to save time even if it is something comon like a firey/icy/ebon/shocking Hilt/bow string or Armor +5 for a weapon. |
